Professional experience

1996 to 2005. Engineer in the Technical Department at Grupo Valero, a manufacturer of thermal and acoustic insulation materials, formwork for concrete structures, and other construction materials. Responsibilities: development of new products and application of national and European regulations (CE marking; AENOR and ACERMI product certification; Technical Suitability Documents). Quality Management (ISO 9001) and Environmental Management (ISO 14000). Technical support for clients and sales teams.
2005 to 2007. Engineer in the Technical Department at Grupo Urbasa, a housing developer and construction company. Responsibilities: review of construction project plans, administrative procedures, contracting of works, and feasibility studies for investment in renewable energy.
Since 2006. Co-founder and Technical Manager. CEO of ETRES Consultores, a consultancy specialized in energy efficiency and building sustainability. Responsibilities: issuance of energy performance certificates as a qualified technician (including HULC, CE3x, CERMA, CALENER GT, CYPTHERM HE Plus); laboratory testing (blower door, thermography, lighting levels, VOCs and formaldehyde, indoor environmental quality, etc.); building energy simulations (EnergyPlus); on-site quality control; consulting for compliance with the Spanish Building Technical Code (CTE, DB-HE and DB-HR); energy audits (hotels, supermarkets, offices, residential buildings); advisory services for obtaining Energy Savings Certificates (CAEs); and building assessment with the VERDE sustainability system.
Teaching experience

Since 2008. Miguel Hernández University of Elche. Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering. Hired as a part-time Associate Professor. Taught several courses related to energy efficiency (heat transfer, energy audits, energy efficiency, etc.) in the official degree programs: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Master’s Degree in Thermal and Electrical Installations, Energy Efficiency, Mechanical and Energy Engineering.
2012 to 2015. Camilo José Cela University. MEEYAB Master’s Degree in Energy Efficiency and Bioclimatic Architecture. Course taught: Energy Certification of Buildings.

The VERDE system by GBCe is similar to the LEED and BREEAM sustainability rating systems, which are more widely known outside Spain.
